Insurance
Included in the price of your car hire is Standard Vehicle Insurance.
Standard Vehicle Insurance consists of “Collision Damage Waiver“ (CDW) for the hirer and any additional drivers on the rental agreement.
The collision damage waiver is 1200€. This is taken as a deposit when you collect the car.
The Insurance Excess
This insurance cover is for damage to the hired vehicle, theft/vandalism of the vehicle and a comprehensive 3rd party cover, but will carry an insurance excess payable in the event of any claim.
The Insurance Excess on all Red Panda Rentals cars is 1,200€
When you collect the vehicle we will need to pre-authorise your credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) for this amount.
We strongly advise that you purchase excess insurance cover – while we are not able to provide this there are several independent companies offering this for very attractive premiums. This cover is often included in credit card insurance policies.
Insurance company examples
In case of damage
If the car is returned damaged we will deduct the cost of repairs from the deposit. We will then provide a quotation / invoice / pictures and payment proof to enable you to claim on your excess insurance policy.
If you choose not to purchase additional insurance you are taking a huge risk – we do not recommend this!
Please note these items are NOT covered
- Car damage or loss caused by misfuelling or off-road driving
- Vehicle undercarriage and tyres
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Natural disasters (hail damage)
- Demonstrations, riots or terrorist attacks
- Carrying of inappropriate equipment, liquids or materials
- Additional unauthorised equipment such as roof or cycle racks
- Transmission failures/burnt-out clutch
- Replacement vehicle
- Excessive cleaning
- Failure to conform to our terms and conditions
